As one of the birthplaces of Chinese Yangtze River culture, Jiangsu is blessed with a picturesque landscape, and rich cultural heritage including various art forms, literary works and historical figures.

After 1949, located in the north of Jiangsu Province, administrative area of Southern Jiangsu Province and Nanjing City three provincial administrative district, merged in 1953, the establishment of Jiangsu Province, the provincial capital of Nanjing.

The unique Kunqu Opera, wood-block printing (雕版) and Yangzhou Paper cutting are all intangible cultural heritage. Jiangsu Provincial cultural public services offer the tourist, cultural facilities of the highest standard, including free facilities such as libraries, cultural centres, art galleries and local museums.
