Yangzhou Paper Cutting

In 2006, Chinese paper cutting was ranked in the First Chinese Nantional nonmaterial cultural heritage, and in Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2009. 

Yangzhou is the earliest area where our Chinese paper cutting began popular. In Tang dynasty, Yangzhou paper cutting became a custome, in Song dynasty, the producion of Yangzhou Gong paper(one kind of papers) made the paper cutting art to develop. Then in Ming and Qing dynasty, Yangzhou paper cutting combined Yangzhou  embroidery, spreading as the exquisite draft of stitchwork which was called Yangzhou Hua Yang. This is the simple history of Yangzhou Paper Cutting.
