He Garden also known as “Jixiao Villa” is the last but best work among the private gardens in Yangzhou. It is a heritage site under state protection and a national AAAA-rated tourist attraction. As the best-known private garden of the late Qing dynasty, it represents the one of 20 first-class key parks in China. Absorbing the essence of traditional Chinese gardening, He Garden introduced western landscape architecture and has established its own style. Chinese experts on ancient gardens have long praised the art employed in building He Garden, calling it "a single case of gardens in South of the Yangtze River area".

淮扬菜

Huaiyang cuisine is one of the Four Great Traditions in Chinese cuisine, originated from Yangzhou and derived from the cooking styles of the region surrounding the lower reaches of the Huai and Yangtze rivers. Huaiyang cuisine tends to have a slightly sweet side to it and is almost never spicy, in contrast to some other cuisines of China. It combines different dishes and forms special style, integrating both northern and southern taste. Yangzhou has unique cuisine customs, such as festival and cultural cuisine customs and one of them is happening right now within the ’Yangzhou Summer’ Festival. Although events like this are often in Yangzhou, summer is a great opportunity to taste fresh crayfish, among others Huaiyang specialties.
