Xuzhou was originally called Pengcheng, boasting of 6000 years of outstanding culture and some 2600 years of  foundation. Xuzhou is located northwest of Jiangsu province,  in the junction of Jiangsu, Shangdong, Shanxi and Anhui. 

Liu Bang, a native of Xuzhou, was born in Peixian County of Xuzhou. He became the first emperor of West Han Dynasty. The emperor later bestowed on his younger brother Liu Jiao King of Chu state and made Xuzhou the capital of his state. Over several hundred years, Xuzhou-centered Chu state remained the hereditary territory of king Liu Jiao's late generations. The long-term tax- free development of the area led to economic prosperity and represented by Han-Dynasty Tombs, Han-Dynasty Stone Carvings and Han-Dynasty Terra-Cota Warriors and Horses which is recognized as the "three wonders of Han Dynasty".

Xuzhou is at the joint of the South and North geographically. There are many stories of heroes and beauties in  Xuzhou's history. Xuzhou boasts its beautiful natural scenery that features in  lakes, rivers and mountains combining magnificence of the North and comeliness of the South, Mountains and rivers are inseparable part of Xuzhou. The old Yellow River water way winds its way through the city; the Grand Canal goes by the city; Yunlong Lake is clear and limpid,like a pearl shining in the south of Xuzhou.
